Default Dialing Script

Hey!

I've got a Conexant modem that I've been trying to set up, and it has been detected because I hear the port open (with a clicking sound) upon system-boot. I've installed it with a Linuxant driver (RPM).

I've followed this guide:
http://www.paulgrenyer.co.uk/article..._internet.html

... For creating a dialing script in order for me to dial up to the internet via my ISP, but I get this error in the terminal (when running /sbin/ifup ppp0):

Failed to activate ppp0 with error 2

Does anybody have any ideas as to what is going wrong?
I'm using Red Hat 8.0 (Psyche).

Thanks!
TMT.

You mean just running the command as:

/sbin/ifup

? If so, then it just asks for a <device name>, in which is ppp0.

Thanks!

I'm fairly new to Linux. But, I'm fairly sure that the modem device is at /dev/ttySHCFO, which links to /dev/modem. I've set all the references to the modem in wvdial.conf and ifcfg-ppp0 to /dev/modem.

Thanks.
