Default Dial-up for Linux

I tried the Knoppix Linux and couldn't get my modem to dial out. Are there any specific drivers or modem brands I need to use? Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if you can load drivers while in Knoppix, I thought Knoppix was designed as more of a Linux Demo tool.

If you can though, I think that this site might help you:
http://linmodems.org/

Contains information for drivers and such on making 'Winmodems' work on Linux.

Goodluck!
