Default Could I install Gentoo on PC1 to place it on PC2, without losing performance ?

Hi,

I was just wondering if it is possible to install Gentoo on PC1 and make a backup of it and place the backup from PC1 on PC2, without losing performance, with a kernel recompilation on PC2 offcourse!

Both PC's are Pentium 4, PC1 is P4 2GHz, 512 MB RAM, and PC2 is P4 2.6GHz WITH HYPERTHREADING. Motherboard and other hardware is different of the systems.

Short answer: not very easily.

Longer answer: why would you want to? Just install it on the second one as well. You could then use distcc to pass back processes to the first one so that you're using both processors to compile the second time around!
