Default [confused] SUSE 9.X

Hi folks, i have a question regarding suse and their website.

im confused about whether or not suse is free. the website lists pricing for professional versions and personal versions, but then they also let you download it.

which would be a compatible version for a first time user like myself? pro? personal? 9.1? 9.2?

im pretty confused

Suse was the only OS Ive ever installed (windows or linux) that f'd up my computer. With so many linux distros I would try a different one. I like Mandrake.

ehh suse believes that it is saving the user alot of grief and space by offering the bare minimum in suse personal and stripping the dev tools and src. it isnt too hard to get them using yast? the built in updater, but the dependency list is a real nightmare. newbie? i suggest mandrake.
