| Compiz Fusion is pretty much the end result of the Compiz/Beryl merge. Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon) does come with a basic Compiz install, with additional plugins and a GUI configuration system just a few clicks in Synaptic away. If you're using an ATi X-series Radeon or Radeon HD, you'll have to use fglrx, which just now supports AIGLX, but it's not perfect. You may choose to use Xgl, which runs smoother at the compromise of some CPU power. You can turn on Compiz by right clicking on the Desktop, going to Change Desktop Background, clicking the Effects tab, and turning on the effects. |
