Unhappy compiling is a pain

When I download programs for linux and try to install them I often have compile errors because of package dependencies. When I download the package I need for the installation, I can't compile that because that package needs another package to run. Dear god, sometimes I wish there was just an ultra "package" package, that has every frieking package you'll ever need, because I'm so tired of not being albe to run things because I'm missing the right package! Geez... sometimes I miss running .exe files.

*sigh* just having a bad day with this stuff.

1) What distro are you using?

2) Have you taken a look to see what if any package management system that distro might be using?

One word: Portage

I love package management, I'm just too lazy to do any package hunting manually.

Portage is Gentoo's package management system.

While I far prefer Portage over APT, you ARE using a distribution with a perfectly capable package management system, so I still don't see WHY you have to do all the package hunting.
