Default CD burning

ok i have been trying to burn some cds but i have no clue why its not working i get errors and stuff i have tried Grip didnt work then i tried GnomeBaker couldn't see my burner or something ? is there a easier way to make a normal audio cd or a data cd or even a mp3 would be nice. More of a audio one i can't seem to figure this one out.

k3b, xcdroast, or just use cdrecord thru command line........all the other apps are nothing more than front ends to mkisofs,cdrecord, and cdrdao
