I recently installed Ubuntu v. 7.04 (Feisty Fawn) on my desktop computer and I am dual-booting it with Windows XP Home SP2. If I boot into XP I can go online and use IM and download files and everything, but if I boot into Ubuntu, I can't access any websites, use its IM service, or download files.

Does anyone know how I can configure Ubuntu so I can use the internet on it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Alright never mind I got it to work after several reboots and trial-and-error. thanks anyway guys!

Any idea what the problem was?

I think it wasn't properly configured because it suddenly began working after I finished blindly changing settings in the network tools application. This is my first time using Linux so I was basically just shooting in the dark before but now I think I pretty much know what I'm doing.
