Default can't boot into slackware

alright first of all I am a linux newbie to the max. I just installed slackware on my second harddrive and all looked like it went well but when i try to boot i get the "Error loading operating system" message. If i try to boot into it off the installation cd it will load and test some stuff for about a minute and then it stops at "kernal panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:40". I'm not very familiar with the linux command line. can someone help me?? i got slax on a live cd but wanted the whole o/s because i loved it! well thanx in advance...

Slackware is one of the toughest installs. What OS do you have on your primary HD? Did you let the installation install GRub or Lilo, (bootloaders)? It looks like you do not have the filesystem set up correctly. you will probably need to reinstall. I would recomend using FDISK to Clean, partition and format drive before you install. Backup Backup Backup!!!!!!!!!!!
