Default Boot from USB using a CD first

Is there any way that I can make a boot CD that will then boot from USB? The reason for this is to be able to boot from a USB thumbdrive when a computer doesn't have the usb option, just the boot from cd option.

sure, I think just about any linux live cd would be ok if put on a usb drive, it should boot ok

only downside is the filesystem that a cd uses won't rotate the usage of memory cells on the thumbdrive making have a shorter lifespan

you'd probably be better of using a version of linux on the thumbdrive with a suitable filesystem instead

yeah, i have done that with mcnlive before.

my old computer didn't support usb booting, so i put in the cd and then the usb drive, which i installed mcnlive on, and when the computer started and got to the cd boot menu, and chose "boot from usb" and it booted off it, then once it is all done booting you can remove the CD
