I'm looking at running a Linux desktop as a VM host.
It will be hosting nothing special - just a single vmdk of Windows XP through VMWare Server 2.x
PC's are a Pentium D 945 64-bit, 4gig RAM, 80gig SATAII HD, 1Gbps connection.
The current host is XP SP3 and I'm looking to get away from having to reboot the host each time a security update come outs - makes my boss' boss happy I'm not staying overtime
Any suggestions of a good distro for this? Corporate automotive environment, so uptime is a huge factor.
I'm most familiar with Fedora Core and have used Suse and Ubuntu.
What about something like CentOS or Debian?
As well...Remote Desktop...possible Windows to Linux? Or would I need to run a virtualized Linux distro on my desktop if I needed to check it out?
