You want to Know How to Install Linux on your server?

First Pick a distro
Second D/L the ISO image, Burn it to CD
Set your Bios to boot from CD ROM, Put the CD in your CD ROM Drive and there you have it.

As for Hardware could you give me some Specs for your sysyem please

Be aware that you must partion your Drive, Once you pick a distro you can google to find an install guide.

Question though, do you want to make Linux your Primary OS or do you want to dual boot with Windows?

As for finding a distro try these Linux distro Choosers:

A few personal reccomendations:

Kubuntu
http://www.kubuntu.org/

Mandriva
http://www.mandriva.com/community/mandrivaone

PCLinuxOS .92
http://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/metalab/dist...glish/preview/
ftp://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/metalab/distr...glish/preview/

This is the distro I use and recommend, Why because it works right out of the box. No need to configure Everything, everything just works. It also comes as a 1 CD install that is a live CD that you can install later if you wish.

Mephis

Slackware

ATMission:

Devil Linux:

Smoothwall

I'd try a few Live CDs first, to see which ones you like

it isn't the easy the bios works really weird. and you need a Alpha Linux distro. i have to set some weird instal partion manually, and im not sure how to do any of that. I've been reading up on how to do it. I just don't get all of it...
