whomever said that linux will never win over microsoft does not apparently know what they are talking about, its absolute ******** (sorry about the language). Linux is the voice of future which is very near, it would not be long before microsoft and partners succeed in compromising your privacy and your rights with the palladium ****. Only then you will realize what kind of trouble you're in. And at that time, we linuxers would be in a much much better position.

Linux is becoming more popular than Windows but it isn't there yet. I just got a copy of Knoppix STD (Security Tools Distobution) it is a really cool OS it requires no installs or file copying in runs completely from the CD drive... its worth a look

Until Linux is as user friendly as Windows, it WONT be as popular as Windows. You have to realize that the majority of computer users ARE NOT as experienced as most here. They cant use Linux because it isnt user friendly. Windows makes it so darn easy to overcome problems, learn new things, etc. that it is the OS for beginners.

Im not saying Windows is better than Linux, just that until Linux makes their distros user friendly enough for the average computer user to install and run without ANY problems....then it wont be as popular as Windows.

Hotwheelz,

Was watching the Screensavers on Techtv a while back (think it was last summer), and one of the guys said that if Linux got any easier to use, he was going to format and install it on his grandmother's computer. I don't remember what distro he was talking about, though.

Yes, I watch The Screensavers, go ahead and flame me.
