Default AIM on Linux

Hey guys, I'm a total Linux noob, I just want to know how I can access AIM asap! I tried installing AIM but the instructions confused me so much, if it is possible, could someone please give me step by step instructions?

Another thing I wanted to know was how to get on AIM express. The current firefox has a popup blocker that I have no idea how to stop. I think it is firefox 1.1. I want to either learn how to install firefox 1.5 or learn how to disable the popup blocker so I can start AIM express.

By the way, I the distribution I use is Ubuntu.

sudo apt-get install gaim

actually its already installed

Applications -> Internet -> Gaim Instant Messenger

to disable the popups from being blocked in firefox, go to Edit -> Preferences -> Content -> and uncheck Block Popup Windows
