Unhappy adobe reader problem...

I was using adobe reader 7 in linux (ubuntu 7) and until now it was working perfectly. a few days back it has stopped working. i don't know what caused this as i don't remember what additional packages i put in before it crashed.
when i open it then nothing happens and my cpu is just being used 100% as long as i don't kill the process. if i open it through terminal it gives the error "expr: syntax error" continuously and doesn't stop.
i tried reinstalling it but same result.
anyone knows what has happened??
thanks in advance..c ya!!
