Question Accessing other partitions – NFTS & External USB Drive

How do I do this from the Linux OS? IÂ’m using Fedora Core 4. I just recently reinstalled Linux, but years ago I remember I could access WindowÂ’s Partition. Can anyone help out? Oh, by the way, hereÂ’s my screenshot ;-)

joe2tiger,

Hey man good to see you are into Linux.

With your Windows Partition veiwing, take A look at the Link below, good idea to do this as 'root' BTW:

http://www.reallylinux.com/docs/toptip3.shtml

As for your USB key in Linux, it should come up automatically, (what is called hotplug) but this isn't always the case:

Look in your File system the directory named 'mnt' see what your USB is called. Sometimes they are called Flash drives as in flash1 or USB as in USB1.

What the 'mount' command does is look for A directory that the file stucture of A device is located in, (A buch of coding etc to recognise the device) it sounds to me as if your FC4 setup is lacking this directory.

you might have to create one, follow the link bellow this takes you though the steps,

hope this Helps,

Jake
