Default What are the strengths of each country in terms of IT

I would like to see what are strengths and weakness in IT in other countries. I'll summarize it maybe in this question part. I will not make it a wiki yet. Please feel free to comment what you think are strength in IT. I specifically am curious on USA, UK, China, Singapore, Australia and India. But you could also comment on other countries. Also please state your country of origin so I could know if the comment for a country be an outsider or by a native. No discrimination here, just want to know from what perspective the opinion about a country came from. Your opinion is allowed.

Updated based on Super Techie's comment:
Let me narrow down the question on competency maybe I would narrow it down to Software Programming. For example, I am currently working in Japan. Although Japan are into all the IT stuff. One thing that stand out is embedded programming because they are on top on Robotics and automation. They are more into hardware side. And for example, I came from the Philippines and from my personal opinion, the Philippines is good at adopting software technology but is not that good on research and development of new stuff like new language. This is just a personal opinion. So any Filipino here can have a different view.

So, What I mean is what is the general strength of other countries. If my question is still not clear just comment again.

Online forums are made from members of all countries

Many tools for removing say even Malware have been designed by: Germany; USA; UK; hmm actually everywhere.

US: for Microsoft

There is no set one country, unless you are talking hardware

Malaysia: for Dell
Intel for US
Too many hardwares to mention

Actually this is wide and varied too
The only way to get even a close understanding of the best IT countries is to see where members come from
This is free and can come from those site viewer websites, they are all there

Therefore I don't understand the question
IT is everywhere, and all countries participate

I think the OP is trying to ask, what are the strengths of the different cultures around the world when it comes to IT. Is that an accurate statement?

Like he said, japan's strength in IT would be robotics.

I live in the US and have only lived / worked in the US so I can't comment on how other countries differ when it comes to IT.

Lexluethar, yes. That is close to what I meant. But it is not in culture specific strength. Maybe country-wise IT industry strength. For example, for my perception Singapore has it's strength in enterprise programming because of the diverse people there. But a quarter of Singapore's population are non-Singaporean.

Lexluethar, How about the US, what do you think is the strength in the IT field. In my perception, it is hard to define because US seems to be a leader in a lot of field mainly because it has a big consumption power for IT so most startup tend to make their first country of business or second country of business in the US.

I would agree with you niceguyhigh. It is difficult to define that not just for the US but any country. Because US based companies outsource chip making to singapore or china, does that mean that they are innovators in chip making? No because they are just outsourced there. Same with India, Microsoft has outsourced a lot of helpdesk positions to that country, does that make it an innovator in that field? No.

With IT it is too difficult to classify countries (i would still feel culture would be a better descriptor) because every country outsources some part of the process. Reason being is because of cost. No country does everything themselves, they usually outsource some part of the process to another country / region that can save them money.
