Default what should study in collage.

what should i study when i go to collage if i wanna make prototype parts. like CPU and video cards.

i think it is a mixture of both, computer engineering and computer science, but i am not sure, and i am a junior in high school, so its time to start looking, when i spoke to my collage adviser today she dident know what it would be eather. i know i asked this in the past but i wanna see if i can get more clear of a answer.

Just don't major in English. Other than that, you need to major in electrical engineering. From what you are saying you sound like you want to do low-level hardware design/fabrication. Computer Science should not be an option because that focuses completely on software engineering. Computer Engineering could be an option but it doesn't focus, nearly, enough on electronics and circuitry like Electrical Engineering does.

I expect between the 45-55K range for starting salary, depending on the standard of living in your area. I'm in my second year as a software engineer and I am making just under 55K and that's considering the fact that software engineers are one of the better payed technical professions at the entry level. It's not spectacular and not as potentially lucrative compared to, let's say, a person doing business/business development type stuff (stock broker, ibanker, etc.) but it's comfortable. Don't let the rate of pay be your driving factor. Otherwise, you are going to be miserable until you retire.

which, depending on how miserable you make yourself (more money equals more miserable on this scale) you will be less miserable overall because you can retire early but dont counton that
