| I did my msce accredition at an all inclusive 6 weeks intensive and i mean intensive 16-18 hours a day course + exams for 2003 and believe me when i say i would not like to go through that again. yes i am certified now but there were a lot of other people on that course who spent 4k and came away with nothing except a headache. also on the last leg of my CCNA but that has been one night a week for 3 hours big difference and it shows cos you are constantly looking back at your notes to reference some command or protocol. Yes I have many other qualifications A+ Administrators and managment ones but at the end of the day i am in a local secondary school getting paid 20k which for the pressure and responsibility is not much at all. Sometimes wonder if 6 years hard study has really been worth it when i see other people in the school with far less qualifications on a lot more salary than me but what can i do but look for another job. IT seems to me to be getting watered down and the jobs that do pay 50-70k a year are very few and far between and are usually 2 year contracts to be renewed as and when. I am a family man of 50 years who really now should be settling down to a decent salary and pension prospects instead i am having to fight every inch of the way for respect of other professionals that i work with who really don't have a clue about working. sorry to sound so despondent but this is not me all of the time. |
