I have to agree with TechPro on legal backing. Even just merchant insurance so in case you cook a PC or your home office should burn down you are insured for your parts and any customers equipment its cheap enough to have that protection.

For the payment goes, just make a signed contract. Have it out in writing incase s/he rips you off, just take it in court following the contract. Yu cant lose with a contract.
