Default Job as a Computer Technician

Well after this school year I will be heading off to College or University now if I go to College I'm going to apply for Computer Systems Technician (since computers is one of my hobbies). Now I have a few questions

1) Is it a good field of work to get into¿
2) What is the annual income on a regular basis¿
3) If any member here is a Computer Systems Technician what are the pro's and con's about your job and do you like it¿

Yes, if you like computers and doing all things related to computers. If your the person whose thinking, "computers = cha ching" then it probably not a good place to be since you always need to stay updated and be very competitive.

Depends on a lot of things:
education
experience
your connections

It is like that with all occupations, you start out making crap then as you get more experience you'll see your salary go up.

To tell you the truth, computer system technician is a good novice position to start in not good for long term career wise. You want to get more into the engineering side of computers to make it big. (ie. computer science/engineering).

How much would you need to know to actually just land a job as a comp. tech, even just temporarily.

A+ Certified, or experience equivalent. Also as mentioned who you know, but experience will do the trick.
