VB is nice to learn on your own, but dont' expect nothing from it. And to pay somebody to teach you it is kind of a waste. If it was like a week or two week overview in another class, that would be one thing, but an entire semester on VB is pointless.
Java, C++, C# are the way to go.
Learn about J2ee and .net and distributed applications.
VB is something you can do on your own spare time if you want, don't waste the money or time for a whole semester on it.
