Now that my business has changed hands, i am not going out on site more offen than before. Previously most of the time I was sitting back at the office where my boss was going out onsite.

Anyways, the last few times that i have gone out on site, i have found myself going back for some basic spare parts has I did not have them with me. However at the same time, I do not want to be repeating the same mistake my boss did where he had half the computer shop in the back of his car as I drive a Holden Astra and not a stationwagon.
And the end of the day, all i want to do is put every thing into one plastic container and just put that in my car for when ever i am going out onsite. This will be my standard kit. However if I do need extra parts, i can always grab them before going out.

How often do you need a firewire card?

molex to pci-e
2.5" to 3.5" ide converter or usb converter for laptop drives.

I have had quite a few of those "I just took my computer out of storage and it's not keeping the date" call outs.

Most digital video cameras use this technology. High end flatbed scanners with firewire.
I don't need them as much as USB, but I still need them. I don't think I am going to worry much about Firewire800.

That is more of a tool as appose to spare parts, but I get where you are coming from.
Most laptop service I find people coming out to my shop.

I am currently putting my on site kit together. This morning I picked up a large pastic tub to keep every thing in. I was thinking about getting a 2x medium sizes one, but I just want to make one trip out to the car, not a few.

I don't see a legacy pci video card on there? I've had onsite visits where their video was acting up for whatever reason or they just needed an upgrade and they only had pci slots. A lot of older Dells don't have any other expansion slots.

I think it might be prudent to bring a surge protector as well.

I can't think of anything else, looks like a pretty complete list.

Yeah.... I got some PCI Video cards in my shop, however they have been doing a good job of gathering dust in the last few years.

Anyways, here's pics

Since hard drives, ram, optical drives and PSU are popular items, I have left them in a separate box.

Now to clear the garbage out of the boot of my car, and I will be right. ^_^;
