Default Educate me. I want it all, where to start?

I have been lurking for awhile but decided I should just go ahead and ask.

I am 42 and have a second chance to start over. Until now I have never been in a position to go back to school. Now I can.

You first need to understand that I am starting at "zero" assume I don't know anything. I know a little but not enough so lets just say "zero"

So here goes, I want to start getting certs and go for a bs degree. My goal is to have all the cisco certs eventually. Where do I start?

Which schools can take me from knowing nothing to where I need to be?

All advice is welcome.

If you want your BS degree really most colleges will start you off at zero. I mean the Ivy league schools and what not start off at a much higher level, but if you go to a state school (cough Missouri State) they pretty much assume you are a complete idiot and teach you as if you are a clean slate (so to speak).

Since you are wanting a BS let us know what schools you are looking at and we can point you to the one that has a more prestigeous computer program. At that point before attending your first semester I would purchase some well reviewed computer books to get a 'head start' depending on your degree program.

Congrats on the new start. I seriously love seeing people further their education in any way possible.

If you give us the area you're looking for good post-secondary institutions we can suggest a few.

Kudos to you. I made a fresh start 6 years ago at age 36. Went and got my associates and finally landed a good job in 06. It takes some time to get that job, but keep at it.

Congratulations on your bold decision Cichlidbear! I wish you all the luck in the world! Recently I decided a life change myself. Since the age of 17 I have been involved in the painting industry ranging from managing a retail store to becomming a journeyman painter and only a few months ago decided I wanted a life change. I have quit the industry and am currently studying for my A+. My only advantage is that I've been involved with computers for a while now, I'm the guy in the family everyone calls when something goes wrong, so I did not start from scratch like you. So at 43 I say Yippy Kay Yay to us all!
