| Ultra Techie | unless you have CRAZY skillz, the CCIE might be a bit above you ![]() You might want to start with the CCNA, then you'd have to move one up to the CCNP, THEN you could have a crack at the CCIE it's one of the highest certifications you can get. Something most people only dream about ![]() basically these certifications are internationally recognized, and very good to get. cisco is a very respected authority in networking fields

| Ultra Techie | Well for any of the certs you'll have to be able to configure standard stuff on routers and switches, e.g. choosing protocols, encapsulation types, etc. And, of course, being able to administrate the network would help too ![]() You'll also be expected to know wireless very well, standards and such. I think about... 5% get a CCIE 65% stay at CCNA 30% get a CCNP those are all just total guesses, based on what people at my colledge are doing, so don't quote me on them. I'm not sure exactly how difficult an MS in computer science would be, but if you managed to get a CCNP (for which you would need a CCNA first) you probably would know most of the stuff already.

| Ultra Techie | 1. No I don't think the Cisco certs require any programming skills 2. I believe the certificates last for 3 years before you have to take the test again 3. A mate of mine recently completed a Microsoft certification program, he seemed to think it was very easy too. now he's got a job at a computer store earning 40k fixing computers. So yeah no personal experience with any microsoft certs, but from what I've heard they're a good thing to pick up.

| lvl Infinite Psychopath | It is a pyramid, with CCNA at the bottom, CCNP middle and CCIE's at the top. I think they like for people to take them in order.
