Out of curiosity, do either of you know if a new key could be used for the CS:S account? (So you'd have the game without the VAC ban on the same account.)

no i tried that sorry. You can have 2 accounts or more though.

If a new cd key could replace that, that would be awesome but I don't understand why it won't work.

it won't work because they're trying to keep you out of the servers. No one wants a cheater on the servers, including valve. Cheaters keep people unhappy and steer people away from buying the game. They wouldn't allow the same cheater back on the server again just for buying the game again.
