AU$420 for:
AMD Athlon XP 2800+
2 x 512MB PC3200
MSI KM4M
Nvidia FX-5200

then put in a better PSU (for AU$100) because the one I had before was not very good

~$650, mainly because I already had the rest of the components laying around my workbench.

1200 for the computer

600 for the monitor

None was my own money, the monitor was bought more than 1 year ago, and the computer was bought almsot half a year ago, I cna have a system much better right now if I spent the same amount of money.
