Software Updates Week 38 2008

It is already October which means that we have reached the final quarter of 2008. This week’s software releases have been rather uneventful. Lots of applications have been released as yet another beta or release candidate but almost none as a final version.
Notable updates include the third release candidate of Notepad 2, the fourths of Open Office and a new version of the popular software uninstaller Revo Uninstaller. A new alpha version of Tor has been released as well.
The update of the week award goes to Screamer Radio which is a nice little tool to record Internet radio.

ATI Tray Tools 1.6.9.1340 Beta - Provides easy access to video card settings.

BurnAware Free 2.1.4 - A CD and DVD burning software that supports the most common burning tasks.
Coccinella 0.96.10 - Instant Messenger with whiteboard support.
DeskTask 1.1 Beta 2 - Displays Calendar and Tasks of Microsoft Outlook on the computer desktop.
Fresh UI 8.16 - Windows tweaking software.
Google Chrome 0.3.154.0 Beta - first 0.3x version of the Google browser.
HWiNFO32 2.25 Build 132 Beta - Hardware analyzer that displays all kind of information about system hardware.
ICQ v6 6.0 Build 7015 - Still a popular Instant Messenger.
LAME 3.98.2 - Used by many Open Source applications to decode audio files into mp3 format.
MediaMonkey 3.0.5.1187 - music manager and organizer.
Nero DiscSpeed 5.0.1.250 - Benchmarks optical drives.
Norton Removal Tool 2009.0.0.41 - Gets rid of traces left by Norton software that was installed on a computer system.
Notepad2 3.0.20 RC 3 - Another Notepad replacement that adds additional features to the text editor.
Notepad++ 5.1 RC - Notepad replacement with syntax highlighting and tabs.
