well....even though its a pain in the butt, the most likely solution is that he's gonna have to keep his ps2, and when he wants to play those ps2 games, he'll have to hook ut up

yea it needs a better online interface, imo it should be easier to play with your friends, these things will probably be fixed with home. and the 40gb version should have backwards compatibility, the ps3 needa big price drop and soon, look at the 360 299.99 for a premeium console with hdmi and usually can be found with 2 games.

with the 40 gig issue... i had the same thing, so I bought an extra PS3, the MGS4 bundle with the 80 Gig PS3... has limitied PS2 game support, but it's more than the 0 support of the 40 gig.

I would like to be able to have the backup feature be able to back up to a Network Storage device, not just USB or memory card. I can only fit so much on my 1 Gig USB drive.

they got 8gb flash drives for like $20 if you want too. I don't think you would care because you bought a whole new console for a few ps2 games :/

ya but i want backwards compatibility, as there is a few sereis i never got to finish on ps2, like the first dot hack, and what not, also ff and ****. of course i wana play new games but for the price you pay 399.99 and no backwards compatibility, compared to 299.99 of a 360 premeum, with backwards compatibility, the ps3 should have it, like its not like it costs them anything hard ware wise to do it, i understand taking away the accesories on it and what not, but going out of your way to take off backwards compatibility, is just plain stupid, and = fail. im preaty sure the 40gb model would sell like hot cakes if they had it. like mgs4 is the perfect examplke lets say you wana replay te series before you play thru 4. well guesse what you cant just run into eb, or microplay and pick up old used copies and just run them on your 40gb no you have to get the old machines to do it. i wana get teh 80gb just so i can do that exact same thign exept ima play mgs1 on game cube, no way i could stand ps1 gfx lol.

im not gonna lie....Microsoft did it right, where they have updates that constantly increase the # of backwards compatible games....although, as i looked into it more, it does say that they need a software emulator for EACH XBox game you wanna play, so that takes up HDD space, but for an 80GB system, thats not that much space, is it?

Please correct me if i'm wrong on this. But i would really like Sony to fix the codec issue where some of my AVIs are not viewable on PS3. I don't want to convert them to MP4 everytime.
