| I have a 40gb ps3. If I replace the 40gb models motherboard with a 60 or 80gb motherboard, would that give me backwards compatibility? Is this even possible? I'm not worried about voiding my warranty so that isn't an issue.

| You can get a cheap 20 gig ps3 on ebay. They are compatable with the older games, and you can just upgrade the hdd.

| yeah it would be logical just to buy a 20gb or a 60gb version instead of messing about with changeing the motherboard and posible doing something wrong with it see if you can take it into a local gamestop or EB (game in the uk) and trade it agenst a used 60gb version, i know its not new or anything but it will save you a lot of messing about and will knock a hefty sum off the other system
