Default PSP Writable UMD?

I'm thinking of buying a PSP, now that the price has gone down, and the ability to play full-length movies is rather attractive. However, I have a large DVD collection already, and I don't want to buy my favorite movies again just to watch them on the PSP.
So, my question is, has anybody heard of anyplace that sells writeable/rewriteable UMDs? I'd like to simply transfer my existing DVD collection to UMD rather than buying the movies again.

Ah. That sucks.

What do you bet that some enterprising hacker will develop a way to do this after a while? I expect that happens eventually, and I also expect that he'll be able to distribute it over the Internet until Sony shuts him down by throwing lawyers at him.

Well it a hacker won't be able to make UMB discs and burner from sracth he would need a manufacturer, and no sane manufacturer would infrige patents(knowingly anyway).

That is assuming Sony has a patent on something to do with UMD like you made it sound.

lets just put it an easier way:

There are no blank UMDs for commercial use.

You will not get any blank UMDs for commercial use.

Sony does not make blank UMDs for commercial use.

There are no UMD drives for commercial use.

You will not get a UMD drive for commercial use.

Sony does not make UMD drives for commercial use.

There are no UMD burners for commercial use.

You will not get a UMD burner for commercial use.

Sony does not make UMD burners for commercial use
