Default PS3 wifi

Will the wifi on the $600 playstation 3 be able to pick up my wireless internet in my house so I don't have to connect an ethernet cable to it in order to take it on the net?

I was just asking if it would pick up the signal from my house so I could get online without using a cable.
Will it?
