Question PS2 Works Without Case On

Whenever I tried to play a backuped game , it froze at this certain point. So iremoved the case , cleaned the lens and plugged it in. It loads. Now , when I put the case back on , the game does the EXACT same thing (freezes) , and then when I take the case off , I need to clean the lens again.

What the heck?
I know quite a bit about tech but even this puzzles me , I fail to see the logic in which a case would cause problems.

It's probably heating up too quickly for some reason. Maybe you didn't install the modchip correctly or missed something and its overheating with the case on.

Ive had the modchip for about 6months. AND it was installed by a professional who's done this kind of work for around 7 years. But what I mean is when I play the game , when it gets to a fight it freezes , but when I take the case off and clean it , it works fine . When i go back to the EXACT same spot it freezes again with the case on. So its not at a random place.

Do any other games freeze or is it just the back up?
