The PlayStation Network Unveiled?
Sony has officially announced the PlayStation Network with surprisingly few details, giving us less to go on than what we already told you the other day.

Video game console leader Sony Corp. said on Thursday the online service in its upcoming PlayStation 3 would let players compete and chat online and download games, music and movies. Gamers have been waiting for months for Sony to release details of its online system.

From my vague knowledgeabout the sony network, simply because there are very few and general statements, it does not seem much different from PS2. It probably won't be that impressive or really that comparable to the 360. Developers will probably have to run their own servers as well.

Personally, I'm not psyched about it but I really don't mind not having such as unified a structure as 360. It does not matter to me if I have a universal account or anything, all I care about is that I'm about to play the game online and for free.

One thing I would worry about is the price of developement increasing causing overhead problems. At this point, they will tell sony to stuff it, and each developer may start charging a monthly fee. Probably ony $5 or so, but added up depending on how many different games and it can get pricey. I hope that doesn't happen, soley because Nintendo and MS may follow suit. I don't know this for a fact, but if they spruce up the online content how could they not and make a profit?

naw.. mark my words!
what sony is going to do is launch a program similar to xboxlive.
why? because xboxlive is great!
So sony needs to step up their game if they want to compete in the online console wars.
