Default play ps3/wii on computer monitor

k so this might be stupid guestion, i've heard that you can connect the ps2 or wii to a computer monitor, will i need special cords/connections to do this. also is there a switch device so i can switch from using the screen on the ps3/wii to computer ? connecting my ps3/wii to my computer monitor would make more sense to me. have the ps3 right by my computer and switch back and forth, without having to get up and go to your tv lol

can a crt or lcd play HD 1080DP properly?

First off, not all crt or lcd monitors will display HD. Actually, many of them won't. You'll find even that a lot of smaller (20"-30") LCD "HDTVs" will only be capable of 720p which is not full HD.
All I can say is to pay close attention to the resolution. Anything that is less than 1080 pixels tall will not display actual HD content.
Also pay attention to the available inputs. Some monitors now have not only a VGA input but DVI and in some cases component inputs. Definately have the DVI. I do not think the Wii will have HDMI or DVI outs therefore having components on you monitor will be imperitive.

Strange, then why are 99% of "HDTVs" not 1920x1080 pixels? Most of them are 1366xwhatever. This irritates me. What makes it higher "definition?" They must mean resolution.
