Default gettin 1080?

so i just got my ps3 today and started playing gta4 and playing with some settings.

I have the ps3 hooked up via hdmi to my dell 2408wfp 24" monitor which supports 1:1, AR, Fill pixel mapping.

I set in the PS3's settings to output 1080p. But when i am playing GTA4 and switch to 1:1 pixel mapping it shrinks as if its 720p. Now my question is shouldnt the PS3 do the scaling b4 sending out the image to 1080 since thats what i have it selected to output?

I know the game will still be rendered in 720 b/c of framerate issues and thats how it was coded to render it but i thought it would upscale that 720 source image to 1080 instead of my monitor doing it.

With HD you can not send the signal in 1080 and then decode it and use it in 720. The signals must match or you will get nothing on screen.

That is why you get it sent in only 720.

Default Re: gettin 1080?

not sure u understood my dilema but i have found a solution.

In the settings where you select the resolution, choose custom instead of automatic and it will list the supported resolutions. For me it was 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p. I deselected everything except 1080p (and 480p it was greyed out). Now in the game the ps3 upscales the 720 source image to a 1080 image.
