Currently, the 40GB is the only in-production PS3 and has no PS2 support.

However, all other models will support most PS2 games.

Even the new 80GB coming in June will be able to support PS2 games.

Gee.... SUCKS that I am seeing this now... I just got mine Wednesday, and gave my PS2 to my girlfriend... lol. Haven't tried PS2 games yet.

If you have a ps2, the 40 gig is your best bet.
If you must have ps2 backwards compatability, wait for the MGS4 bundle with the 80 gig that has software backwards compatability.

Stay away from the 20 gig ps3, especially if you do not want to bother with upgrading hard drives. Games coming out are going to be requiring 4 GB installs, and I'm sure later on things will even get worse. You will be hurting with space with the 20 gig version.

yeah, i'll probably just wait it out in that case. having to have both a ps2 and a ps3 seems pretty ludicrous to me.
