Default N64 EXT Port

Does anyone have any idea what the EXT port on the bottom of the control deck is used for?

There was a device planned (and probably made) for the N64 that gave the N64 storage space and I think internet connection: There was meant to be an option in Zelda 64 where you could download new levels and such. I think this is correct, but you're best off searching online for solid information

Some information about the games. It's a shame this thing went belly up as some of the games sound great

The EXT slot? I think it's standard practice as many consoles have expansion slots - snes, megadrive, mastersystem.
