Default xbox mod chip

whats the best kind of mod chip for an xbox to play backup games? im thinking about modding my box but i dont want to get something that could hurt it?

Softmodding it is the easiest and cost nothing.(just need ethernet cable to make backup to computer)

i would visit www.xbox-scene.com and check the tutorials section .. best advice for softmodding is use UXE complete .. you will have a hard time getting a new harddrive into your xbox if you softmod ..

i would recommend a TSOP flash if your looking for cheap and quick ..

its easy but does require some tools .. ordering and installing a modchip is easy, thats the best way to go IMO for your first mod ..

all i care about is playing backups, i dont really want to install a new bios or hard drive

you won't be able to back many things up on the stock xbox hard drive

a mod chip is a new bios .. its a new bios no matter what you do, softmod, install a chip, TSOP .. the only one that is not really a new bios is softmodding, in that case its a patched bios ..
