Default Xbox Live Router Question

I recently got high speed internet and now i ahve xbox live. I know i need a hub of some sort to get the internet to my computer and xbox at the same time. Do cables come with the router that i can use or do I have to buy them seperatly. And does anyone know of a good brand that I should get? Thanks

The cables may or may not come with the router... depending on what the company decides to include. Most likely not...

You can get a 7ft cat 5 cable for 3-8 dollars.

Linksys and Belkin are respectable router brands.

The only cable usually that comes in the box is a crossover cable, to connect the modem to the router. As TheRecluse said, Linksys, and Belkin are great brands. I also like Netgear. I wouldn't recommed going with a cheaper, lesser known brand, just because it will be harder to find support information on it if you ever need it in the future for things like port forwarding. Also when you purchase cable make sure you don't purchase crossover cable, which is a mistake a lot of people make.

I had to DL a patch for my router so i could play Xbox live. So if you have this same problem, dont waste any time getting that patch.

Why not waste any time ? I head that only CAT 6 cables can be used with XBOX live.
