| I plan on purchasing an Xbox 360 but I'm not sure which one I should go with. The core system is out of the question since I plan on playing online. I'm left with the Xbox 360 and the Xbox 360 Elite. Money is an issue and I don't want to go with an Elite if the difference isn't worth the extra money. My television is a 5 year old 22 inch RCA tube and it uses that old input (I don't know the proper name for it), a yellow port for video and two L/R sound connections, white and red respectively. Needless to say, I won't be needing HDMI and I have absolutely no intention of getting the HD-DVD peripheral. As far as I can tell, they both have very similar hardware except for the HDMI out, a larger hard disk drive, and the exterior color. If there's something else, please tell me since I haven't been into the whole 'console scene' since the last gen-war. My main intention is to use it for gaming. Yeah, that sounds silly but why would I want to web surf on my tv like with the Wii or PS3. I don't care much for the media thing but I'll end up using it anyway. I want to play the new Halo 2 maps which I can't on my Xbox. Second of all, no one I know in real life has a Wii or PS3, everyone has a 360 and they're always talking about it. They all have Xbox Live, by the way. I had an account but unfortunately it expired a year ago. I have another Silver account but I want Gold, GOSH-DARN (because I can't say ****) it! | I just went with the premium (I believe thats what its called) Xbox 360 and have had no complaints about it. I think the major the difference besides the great difference in storage space would have to be the hd drive. I'm not 100% percent sure of this, but I belive that could be a nice little touch with the new games coming out. Otherwise in the future if you realize 20gb's isnt enough you can always upgrade to 120gb but it'll cost you an additional $200. In my opinion I would just go with the elite seeing its only $100 more. And I know there will be a price cut and all but I dont no if its for the elite or premium. If it does include the elite, go with it. If you have any questions I can defiantly help you, otherwise good luck with your decision. |

| lol, fade2black2004, nice explanation of WHY he should choose elite. If you don't have a friken amazing TV, which by the sounds of it you dont (lol), and an intense sound system, then I'd save the money and go with the Premium. Elite has more storage space, but on my xbox... i think im using maybe 7gb or so of space on it, i dont have any music on it cause i never play music when i am gaming, and if i wanted to i would just play it streaming through my computer. you dont need vista or media centre to steam it though, just you need it if you want to use the media centre feature on your xbox. That and you can always just plug in your mp3 player or something through USB and play it from that on the 360 if you really want music. Save games, you will never run out of space on your hard drive for them. Seriously, they take up crap all space, if you play 50 games it wouldnt take a gig of space the chances are. so GL with that, haha the HDMI and better audio connections and all that, that the elite has but premium doesn't? yeah... considering your current setup you will not tell the difference, lol, actually i dont think it would make a difference, literally. considering you wont actually be using the HD outputs on your xbox cause your TV only will be using standard AV connectors. Premium is cheaper and does the same thing as elite except for at the very high end TV and audio systems, and it has a smaller HD, but big whoop. Hope that helps, Sydz |

| Future ex-member | If you had a hdtv and planned on downloading movies from Live then the Elite would be the way to go. But for your situation I think the premium would be just fine.

| Monster Techie | Unless you feel that you need the 120 gig hard drive ... which you probably won't. Go with the Premium and save a few bucks. Also don't buy until August 8th.. there's rumors of a 50 dollar price cut on all SKUS.
