Question salvaging xbox hard drives

Hi all, I recieved a couple of hard drives from a buddy who upgraded his xbox drives, he said thet I would have to do something to the drives so I could use them in a pc. Google is giving me a headache trying to find this out. Any advice or even where to look?
thanks

you have to unlock your xbox hard disks on the xbox console before using it in your computer. these are some links about it. I saw a tutorial on how to to unlock an 8gb seagate xbox drive, forgot the link. search google for more info on xbxox hard drive unlocking
