Connect your 360 and PC to the same network. Turn your 360 ON. Then go to WMP11 and go to Library > Sharing (or something about sharing, don't remember the exact name), tell it to share your media and it should come up with Xbox 360, allow the 360. Then on the 360, go to Music and you should find a computer item (your Windows username and your PC's network name). In it will be your music, videos, etc that are shared on your PC.

Is the 360 turned on when you try to access it on the PC? Also, is the Xbox 360 passing the network connection test? If the 360 doesn't pass the test, then it's not connected to the network.

Try restarting the computer and the 360. Also try turning the router off and back on.

Are you trying to access "Windows Media Center" on the 360 or just Music/Pictures/Video/etc? Windows Media Center only works with a Windows XP Media Center Edition or Windows Vista Home Premium/Ultimate PC that has Windows MCE set up. Other PC's can share media using Windows Media Player 11.

Go into WMP11 and click the down arrow by Library, select Media Sharing, and you'll get a window titled "Media Sharing". Under Settings, you can enter a Share Media As <name>, which changes the name shown on the Xbox menu. Also, you can set media types that will be shared.

If you don't see the 360 listed on the previous menu, check "Allow new devices and computers automatically (not recommended)" so that your Xbox can connect without being authorized first (since it's not showing up). Hit OK and then Apply to apply the changes. Now go to your (already on) 360 and go to Music, you should see a computer icon with <computer name>:<username>. In that, you'll find all the media shared by your PC.

Let me just tell you how none of that is working

Must I go into my network places and set up a network first? heres some pics to illustrate and hopefully show you that I've done everything right so far and it still wont show my 360 on the menu

heres my network

heres my media center not showing my 360 (yes I choose the auto allow option and my 360 is turned on and signed into live)

heres my router that I use to connect both my pc and my 360 to my cable modemhttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v706/DwayneEckert/router.jpg

As you can see everything is connected correctly and hooked up and my 360 still wont show up, also take notice no firewalls are up to interefere with this, it sucks Any more ideas?

Are you using the 1394 connectoins? Usually it shouldn't be Local Area Connection 2, just normal Local Area Connection. If you have two network cards (wifi and Ethernet, 1394, or dialup, etc) then it may not be able to find it.
