Default Crappy XBL Connection

Quote:
If you're having trouble with your Xbox Live connection (slow response, echoing voices, etc.), then it may be a NAT configuration issue with your router. To fix it, set up your Xbox 360 with a static IP address, and then forward ports 88 and 3074 to that IP address per this site's instructions.
Can someone please explain how to do that in a step-by-step format? I have no idea what it means or what to do! My XBL connection is really crappy and this may be the only thing that'll fix it.

If you can help, or if there is an alternate way to improve the connection please, let me know.

Oh, and I'm using a Wireless adapter.

I don't know if you can set up a static IP on a wireless adapter... Do you know how to forward ports on your router?

First thing I would do If I were you would be to run cat5 instead of the wireless adapter to eliminate faulty Wireless equipment.

You just use regular ethernet cable. Go from cable modem to the 360.

Ya, sorry. cat5 is just the cable that goes from your modem into your wireless router for the WiFi that is in your home.

Unplug that cord from the back of your router and into the ethernet port on the back of your 360. See if you still have connection problems.

You might want to check your connection to ensure the speed is decent. You can do this at speedtest.net. Just do it on the computer you use at home for the internet. I noticed when I had a slow speed (under 1mps) XBL was slow, anything over that and it was fine.
