Default Buying XB0X 360 USED

Hey there,

I plan on buying a used xbox 360 very soon, and i would like to know what to look out for. I don't know much about consoles, but i have seen people fix PS3s on youtube using blow dryers and other weird things, lol. Is there something i should look out for when buying a used xbox 360? Is there a YLOD (yellow light of death) equivalent for xbox360. This is a modded 360 that i'm buying.

Thanks guys for all your advice.

Cheers.

Yeah, the RRoD (Red Ring of Death) is far more common than the YLOD. Around a third, if not more, ot 360's die, but since yours is modded (and probably fixed, at least from a thermal standpoint), you shouldn't have that problem. Make sure to ask the person you're buying from if he/she added some extra thermal insulation to things inside.

Yep you gotta watch out for the RROD.

It's not an overheating issue that causes the RROD though its the fact that the logic board is bent the way it is mounted on the case and that causes the solder joints under the GPU to crack and cause the RROD. The Hybrid X-clamp fix makes the logic board strait and theoretically stops the RROD.

Assuming that the modding didn't take care of this RRoD issue, how long does it take for the machine to heat up and have that happen? And how long does it take to cool down and be playable again? Or is it a permanent thing and requires fixing?

How long has he had his Xbox for? Most of the time if a year or so has gone by with no RROD the console will not get it.

Thanks so much guys.

The guy i was gonna buy the Xbox from told me that he took the xbox to get it inspected and he was told it has a lens problem, so he couldn't sell it anymore. At least he turned out to be an honest guy, lol.

Thx for the info

A lens problem? Not sure what they could be talking about. Buying a used 360 is just not a good idea no matter who you buy from, and buying a modded system just opens you up to far more trouble than it is worth. I am closing this thread because modding of an Xbox 360 (to play burnt games) is illegal and discussion on it is not allowed.

If this mod was purely heat/enclosure related you may request to have the topic re-opened (if even necessary since it appears your issue was resolved on its own).
