| Who here is getting over 30 fps avg on Warhead? I'm only asking those that claim this with a single card, not sli or xfire. If you do/did then how exactly are you running this game?
Here is why I am asking. Forgive me as I am sure I some what behind the curve. I just got back into PC gaming about 8 months ago. Sure this has been talked to death.
Well I have went from a 3870 to a 4870 (1gb). I wasn't expecting greatness but when i got the 4870 I was very happy with the performance. I was playing at 1920 x 1200 with 4x aa on enthusiast and getting fps in the 20's. I was happy with that.
Then I go on to hear talk of how this game just eats up the NVIDIA cards and how much this one single game plays so much better with them. Now please if I am wrong please tell me so but I could swear I have heard from 260 216 user and 280 users that they are getting these numbers (fps over 30). So how???
The reason I say this is yesterday I went over to my buddies place who just sold his 4870 x2 for a SSC 285. I was expecting greatness!!!! Seriously though, I never saw more then 27 fps with that card. He was running 1680 x 1050 with 8x aa and on enthusiast settings. I put it down to 4x and it didn't seem to change much. Still in the 20's. Benchmarked it at 23.74 fps. The game looked and played no different then my 4870. I was some what let down honestly. In the past I had some major driver issues and was really looking forward to a 200 series purchase. I think now I will be keeping my card. For now.
edit: I just found this. I guess I was expecting more but it's not really the case. These numbers are on par it seems. However when in the heck are they getting 54 fps? Looking up at the blue sky?

| Re: Who here is getting over 30 fps avg on Warhead? Yeah high resolutions and anti-aliasing kill this game. And it does run better with Nvidia cards (for the most part).
If you can bare lower res and no AA the game will treat your PC quite nicely though.

| Re: Who here is getting over 30 fps avg on Warhead? I'd be bummed if i was him. I average 25-40 with my 4870x2 1920x1200 all enthusiast 2xaa 16af
only spot that dips to 20 is that stupid hovercraft run that I never bother playing anyway.
I don't know what he has now, but ste's 4870x2 dominates warhead too if I remember correctly. He averaged higher than me. >_> lol

| Re: Who here is getting over 30 fps avg on Warhead? He had a 4870 X2 like you and I never saw FPS over 30 with that card either. How are you getting into the 30 and 40's with that card?
That card ran so darn hot too it was insane. What was odd is he didn't get any more fps then my single 4870 with his X2. Why is that? It's like the 2nd processor wasn't working or something

| Re: Who here is getting over 30 fps avg on Warhead? Who cares what FPS it is or not.
Turn off the FPS monitors and just play the game, is it smooth to you or not?
Does it lagh? Is it choppy?
That is all the matters.. |

No, but seriously...this is nothing new. People have a good reason to stress over their FPS. Most PC gamers don't have too much money they can just throw around; so when they buy the latest and greatest parts to test them out they expect good results (as well they should).
