I will always play SP for a bit first, just to get the hang of the controls and see a few of the sights, then give MP a go. MP is generally better, we are social creatures after all. (even if social interaction = blowing people to bits at a LAN party).

I've been playing games for a long time now and have been able to avoid any multiplayer titles until I got hooked on HALO. The single player game was so fun that I convinced myself to suck it up and try out the "capture the flag" version of multiplay. I have to admit that it opened up all kinds of new fun for me...for a while. It wasn't long after I started playing, that I got introduced to the "team killers". These morons jumping from server to server shooting their own teammates between the eyes represented every reason I had avoided multipalyer in the first place. I'm not throwing out multiplayer as an option for myself in the future but I am definitley going to try and pick games that reward cooperation and respect for fellow players. There is lots of great potential in the multiplayer world but I can also see the opportunity for a lot of frustration.

Like most gamers, I try the single player mode first, to get the hang of the game... Then I switch to multiplayer, and rarely come back to SP... When I bought my computer 2 years ago, I immediatly bought Quake 3 arena (along with the 1 and 2 as a package, but I've tried them 3-4 times each...). I played Quake 3 only, uhm, I'd say, a dozen times all alone for 6 months. (wasn't hooked on the net back then ) I played a lot of multiplayer Q3 when I finally got the net, but my "shoot'em up" frenzy has worn out... Right now, it's been 4-5 months since I last played... Don't even know if it's still installed. [checking] No it's not.[/checking]Haven't really played other multiplayer games though. Except MotorCity Online . Oh, and I tried Halo once at a friend's, that kicked some alien butt. Gotta have this game! (when I'll get my Athlon )

If you haven't played CoD singlie player I strongly suggest you try it. IMHO this game really got it right with the atmostpheric aspect of a battlefield. If you feel the bots are too stupid/easy, just crank up the difficulty. When I started the SP I put it on Veteran(hardest) and it took me a week (3hrs a day) until i beat it. I was really satisfied when I finished it. This game is definately unique in that sense of inguagement.

| Admin | I usually try to learn the controls by playing the single player. But then I try to get into the multiplayer as soon as possible. I usually beat the game without cheats on whatever different levels there are (like all four levels on Halo). But, some would call it cheating since you can save the game, get killed, and then start at the place you were instead of starting over. I do the saves! I like to go back after beating the game, plug in the cheats, and see what else I can do in there that I didn't do the first time around.Dave ![]()

This is a pretty tough call. I'm sick of hackers abusing games. I'd rather just play fair all the time, which bots and a.i. do quite well. Besides, how many of you can beat 15 'Godlike' bots in an Unreal Tournament 2003 deathmatch? I certainly can't...yet. Oh, and single play takes out all the lag. ![]()
