| Yep, that card is probably causing a bottleneck in your system. May be time for an upgrade. ![]()

Memory upgrade is a must!!! your system may be slow, because you might have some crap running in the background... try to run - msconfig - and uncheck all the junk in Startup this might help ![]()

| I used to have that graphics card and i was having trouble playing Quake III. i patched the game and it helped alot, so you could try patching it but i have to admit the RIVA TNT 2 card does suck ***. if your gonna get a new card your probably gonna have to get a new motherboard aswel as i dont think (judging by your graphics card) your current motherbord will handle a 64 mb card which unless you look on ebay is the minimum your gonna get these days. so i would: -patch the game see if that helps -free up stuff running in the backround -upgrade your RAM (be careful though check what your MB will support) -upgrade your graphics card and MB |

i would reccommend these 3 software items for you: end it all: freeware, available for download on the net, search for it on google, it kills all unnecessary processes, which frees up alot of space, and you can protect things you dont want it to kill (like a/v software) ad-aware: shareware, you can download a free trial, but to get ad-watch (a popup blocker) and some other features you gotta buy it... or download it off of kazaa, it finds and deletes spyware from your PC and finally norton system works: NOT FREE OR SHAREWARE you can buy it, or download it from kazaa, i dont care, just get it, it will fix your registry, your shortcuts, and pretty much check everything with the OBC (one button checkup) plus it can optimize your hard drive to make files that are access often easier to access (physically for the HDD) those 3 will greatly help your performance btw check out my new gaming rig below, nice eh? im thinking of adding a 2nd HDD, something small like a 20 gig for my os, i like to keep my os and my data/programs separate, and i hate partitioning, id rather have 2 drives, should i find a SATA 20GB or just go with an IDE drive?

| Newb Techie | Bergie- there's a program called mem turbo... i think you can get it at download.com and it monitors the amount of memory you have free and you can do a quick RAM defrag to get a few more MB free or you can do a thorough RAM recovery (about 20 seconds on 1 GB for me) and it free's it up alot for me. great program IMO |
