| Problems getting Borderlands to play Just what the title says. I launch the game, get the splash screen, and then the screen goes black. A few seconds later it minimizes. I can hear the audio just fine. If I click it to maximize it, I get a black square in the upper left corner that cover 2/3 - 3/4 of the screen for a few seconds, the whole screen goes black, but I still have audio. If I hit ESC it sits for a few, and then it minimizes. Sometimes, if the game has progressed into the introduction, the soundtrack goes nuts... skipping, bouncing back a few seconds.
I have went back to the 190.xx drivers (was on the newest before), no difference. I have killed all the processes that I could, no difference.
I also tried the FFDshow video and audio trick, like for FO3, but it didn't help.
Sometimes I can relaunch it and kill the first one and it will play. Every once in a while I can hit ESC (like you do to skip the movies) and it will play. Both of these are hit and miss, mainly miss (takes me around ten minutes of trying to get to play).
When it does play it plays fine, no glitches, so I believe the installation is OK.
I have been to the community forums but haven't found anyone having the same problem.
My specs are in my sig and they are current.
So give me some ideas here, people... but make sure they are actual ideas and not just wasting my time. |

| Re: Problems getting Borderlands to play I know it is a pain and a last resort, but you should reinstall. I don't know what else you could do if you rolled back your drivers.

| Re: Problems getting Borderlands to play Uninstalled and reinstalled, no help.
I moved to the newest beta drivers, no help.
PhysX shows up on the Start menu. The only thing of Nvidia I didn't do was allow the 3D Stereospocic drivers to run on startup. I don't have it, so I saw no need (this is on the beta drivers).
If I let the game go through the initial movies (2K, Gearhead, Nvivia), and then maximize it, it will go on into the game. I can live with that.
So far I have tried out the soldier and the hunter. I'm loving the sniper rifle I have right now, but just got one with explosives that I haven't tried yet. I really like The Clipper pistol, too... sets stuff on fire. I just got a revolver that does massive damage but can't use it until I go up two or three levels. |

Guns, guns guns! This game has way to many, lol. Right when you think you found a gun you like you will level up, or kill someone and find a better gun. It's pretty fun finding a new weapon. I'm a sniper too.
The sniper rifle I have atm does 272 damage & has a chance to electrocute someone.
Be sure when you go to buy weapons that you check out the deal of the day. It's usually a good gun and is only on sale for a short while. Check back to it normally to get better weapons. However I would say I found more weapons from drops or opening those cases then anything.

| Re: Problems getting Borderlands to play I know it sounds pretty simple Trot, but often running the app as Admin and in Windows Vista SP2 or Windows XP SP3 Compatibility mode solves quite a few issues like this. |

| Re: Problems getting Borderlands to play Sometimes doing what Oreo suggested, as well as disabling visual themes on the app makes it work as well.

Unless the ObjectDock shortcuts work differently. |
