ok so me and my friend were trying to make a server just for us two to see if we could do it and throw in some bots, so first we try the ingame create server but wuickly find that it is only for LAN, so he goes into the dedicated server part(seperate from the game) and says he created a server. ok so he sends me the IP and the name and i try to find it, but i cant, he says the server ip is 192.168.1.101:27015, so obviously that is only LAN, right? he says no, because he says he can view it through his "online" games tab where you find servers, and he thinks that no other servers start with the 192.168.... because they dont go through a router, but i think that it is just a game in his LAN, can some one help me out and tell me who is right, and what to do to fix it.

What he'll need to do is forward port 27015 to his computer, then give you his external ip.

Tell him he can get his ip by going to www.whatismyip.com

yeah i'ved had that problem and the steam forums are not helping at all. my friend and i were trying to play bots too and we tried to make a server, it comes up on mine but not his. i've tried that whatismyip.org thing (by the way its .ORG) and i tried another site i gave these out to my friend and he still coulden't find my server, all firewalls were down and NAV was down, my router diden't have anything turned on. I just wish it was just

Create Server - Net or LAN - Net - Settings - Go

But NO, it has to be sv-lan 0 sv_region whatever all that lamo stuff. just wish it was easier. my friends tried it the other way around so that he hosted. he has no router but still i can't find his server. What s wrong?

Plus is it possible to add bots to internet booked servers? (like gamespace) i know theres a rcon thing and u go rcon_password whatever then rcon command and the number. but i haven't gotten around to doing it.
